Maude stepped off the stage, looking this way and that.
But no sight of anyone to greet her accustomed as she with grand entrance in
flight.
Hearing laughter ringing clear from down two doors,
There she headed, stepping into a world she had to look twice before
believing.
"Ezra darling boy, there is a dirty creature accosting your shoulder," she
was seething
There's a road that I remember leading to a
special place
Where the door was always open to a smiling face
There's a picture on the mantle of a boy that
looks like me
It's always the same, there's a stocking with my
name you see
"Mother, you came for Christmas to be, and Ms. Teri isn't a creature but my
friend, you see."
Two ladies, one of fur with sight so sharp, one of beauty eyes calculating
all to a 'T'
Both laying claim to the man between their fire shining bright everyone could
see.
"Maude, Ms. Teri is a friend to all of us and even has saved my life. So ya
might want to think twice of the words you next let fly," Vin softly
reported, seeing both females bristle.
Looking more at the one called Teri, she found the fur was groomed to gleaming
quality, the sparkle of gold and jewel bracelet adorning the neck as a collar.
But it was the light in her boy's face that told the true value of the
friendship now owned.
And a candle in the window, a flame against the
night
There's a candle in the window, it's like God's
perfect light
It don't take a lot of money to know what riches
are
Just a candle in the window, oh it's Christmas
in your heart, Christmas in your heart
Suddenly she saw the truth, her boy had found his home at last.
It was more than just the men that sat and stood at his side, but a knowing
always there would be someone watching out the window, waiting for his return
with concern.
She hid the smile that warmed her heart for him, for appearances were
everything.
But glad she was he found his treasured riches in this Christmas light.
Wherever the years may take me, no matter how
far I go
There's going to be a candle burning, it's
always nice to know
It don't take a lot of money to know what riches
are
A simple candle in the window and Christmas in
your heart
"Well, come along, my Darling boy, you and your paramore are taking your mother
to dinner. I trust you have taught her table manners, for you know I won't be
associated with such sinners."
"Says the woman who conned her son out of his own saloon," Chris said under
his breath.
The six watching as their friend left, his arm escorting his mother.
Their smiles grew wide as the little addition of the seven was seen leaning
from Ezra's shoulder, pulling out hair pins with the paw that had just been
in Vin's blueberry Christmas jam...
There's a candle in the window, there's a flame
against the night
There's candle in the window, it's like God's
perfect light
It don't take lots of money to know what riches
are
Just a candle in the window and Christmas in
your heart
