I'm dreamin' tonight of a place I love
Even more than I usually do
And although I know it's a long road back
I promise youHe stood in the snow staring at the stars, seeing them through the flakes of falling snow. He remembered her voice as she sang carols in the kitchen while she cooked. The happy smile she gave when she saw him come in the room.
I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents under the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light beams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreamsHe didn't feel the cold that was chilling his bones. His mind so taken back to long ago, laying in his bed with the old quilt she had made pulled up keeping him warm. Hearing the love in her voice as she said, 'I'll always be with you, if only in your dreams'
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light beams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreamsHe felt a hand on his shoulder awakening him back to the here and now, the laughter of his brothers, his family, ringing clear from behind. He turned and met his best friend and brother's eyes.
"You all right?"
"Yeah," he answered as the two looked to the house, as a large crash of a platter being dropped was heard. Hoots, hollers and laughter followed the sound.
"Come on, it's too cold to be standing out here."
"I'll be home for Christmas," he mumbled to himself as he felt a soft brush of cool air cup his cheek. If only for a split second, he knew she was there.
"You are home, Vin." Chris assured, squeezeing his shoulder as he lead him back into their family's warmth and care.
