After a couple days off on leave Buck Wilmington returned to the Montecito with a smile on his face and a bounce in his step. He was in a good mood . . . looking forward to coming back to work as well as seeing his friends. Passing a few guests who were dressed as pirates, he paused in his step to take in their appearance and then shook his head. Things definitely did not change at the Montecito, he thought, there was always something going on and today it looked like a pirate convention was in full swing at the resort.

Deciding he would pay his favorite lady a visit before heading to the Security office to check in with the guys, he headed for Mystique. When he reached the club he found it filled with pirate convention-goers who were definitely having a good time. Spotting the club manager, Inez Recillos, he weaved his way through rowdy pirates and made his way to her.

Inez had a forced smile on her face as she dealt with the pirate conventioneers who were starting to get obnoxious and were enjoying themselves way too much. As she delivered a couple beers to the newest pirate arrivals, one of them decided to try his luck with the pretty Latino lady.

"Avast, me proud beauty! Wanna know why my Roger is so Jolly?" said the pirate as he tried his best pick-up line on the pretty bartender.

"No, Senor," replied Inez as she forced a smile on her face. "It's best you kept your 'Roger' to yourself or I'll have to call security."

"Oh come on, I'd love to drop anchor in your lagoon. . ." continued the very persistent pirate while he grabbed her wrist to keep her there. The pirate had already had a few drinks before arriving at the club and wasn't gonna take no for an answer. "Cause you're the finest booty I've ever laid eyes on. . ."

It was at this time Buck arrived on the scene. He was none to pleased at what he saw. Jealousy filled him as he noticed the pirate grabbing Inez. Moving to position himself between them, he removed the pirate's hand from Inez's wrist as he said, "The lady is no one's 'booty'. And you'd best keep that in mind or you might just find yourself keelhauled if I have anything to do with it, you blaggard."

"Whoa thar, mate," said the pirate as he held up both hands. "Didn't mean to move in on your lass. How about if you join us for some grog?"

"Sorry, mate, but I'm on duty," replied Buck. He turned and followed Inez back behind the bar.

"You know I didn't need your help, he was harmless . . . I could've handled him myself," declared Inez as she headed into the kitchen area to get more glasses.

"Yep, I know, and you're welcome," said Buck as he tried not to smile. "So, did you miss me while I was gone?"

"You were gone?" replied Inez pretending she didn't even realize he was away. In truth she did miss the tall handsome man but she definitely wasn't going to admit it to him.

Buck smiled as if he knew she was lying. "Here, let me help," said Buck as he grabbed the case of glasses she was going to lift.

Inez was about to object but Buck said, "I know . . . I know . . . you don't need my help but I'm here and I'm going to so just deal with it. . ." He lifted the case effortlessly and turned and carried them through the doorway to the bar area, depositing them on the back counter.

Buck turned and said, "Ok, me beauty, I've got to head off to work so don't miss me too much, ok?" Buck was enjoying the tight quarters behind the bar especially now that she was in close proximity to him.

"I'll try not to," replied Inez as she smiled at his attempt of pirate-speak. She took a step closer to him and said in a low voice, "Is that a horn pipe in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

"Oh, I'm definitely happy to see you," said Buck as he smiled, enjoying her sudden playful manner. "So . . . join me for coffee later?"

"Maybe," said Inez coyly.

"Well, blow me down," replied Buck as a big grin spread across his face. Giving her a wink, he turned and headed out of the club.

Inez laughed softly as she watched him leave Mystique suddenly looking forward to their coffee 'date'.
