Ain’t Gonna Do It

by Twyla Jane

February Challenge
Any AU, any setting.... Whatever floats your boat so to say. Some of the seven guys are stuck on one side of a water way (river, pool, pond, puddle, bathtub anything with water) and some of the others (one or two or how many you want) are on the other side. For whatever reason, the one group refuses to cross the water and join the others, despite the fact bad guys can be heard bearing down on them. A silly drabble. 2/28/02

“What is it with you and the water?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about?”

“It’s just you and me now... Everybody else is across now so what’s the deal?”

“I ain’t doing it cowboy…”

“Why not?”

“It don’t matter if we cross or not…”

Larabee just raised an eyebrow the longhaired tracker.

“Mind telling me why Tanner?”

The steady sound of hoof beats grew louder as the seconds passed.

“Ever notice that we get stabbed, shot and generally stomped on regular like?”

“What does that have to do with anything?”

“It’s them women again…”

“We don’t have time for this craziness ya mule headed Texan. We have to move now!”

Chris made a grab for Vin’s arm but the lithe tracker gracefully avoided the sudden lunge.

“Nope… not this time Larabee. I ain’t doing it… not this time. Ain’t gonna happen jist ‘cause them women like to see us get beaten on… Count me out… Dang Fan Fiction writin’ women… Come on Peso…”

Tanner pulled himself onto his mangy horse and rode off leaving a stunned Larabee in his wake.

“Hell with it… “ Chris threw his hands up and mounted up following behind his friend leaving five bewildered men starting after them from across the river.
