Conclusion to Downpour

Disclaimer: Wish I did, but I don't. Trilogy Entertainment, The Mirisch Group, MGM Worldwide, CBS and TNN all have that privilege. Even if I could have one or two to keep, by the looks of things, I'd be standing at the back of a verrry long line.

Comments: I really appreciate the feedback sent about my fic Downpour. This is for those of you who pointed out that I must've somehow...er, misplaced the 'mud scene'. I hope you like it. My thanks to Judy who brought the end back to center and Mirna who added great closure. And thanks to Tarlan who through a comment, gave me the title. Just seemed to fit.

Chris sat in the saloon, surveying the dark room. It was late, few people remained, most having retired to their homes hours ago. A small group of men played cards at one of the corner tables, Chris saw Ezra seated in the back, facing the room. Voices sounded somewhat strained and Chris tensed, raising himself in the chair, then relaxed hearing the smattering of laughter. He noticed Ezra had quite a pile of winnings and saw the grin break out on the gambler's face. Ezra caught Chris looking his way and subtly saluted him with his shotglass. Chris gave a short nod, then downed his whiskey.

He was thinking of leaving when Buck entered, pausing momentarily on the riser by the doors. The tall man ambled over, calling out a few greetings to the remaining patrons and collapsed in the chair opposite the one Chris occupied.

"S'prised to see you still here, thought you'd left to your cabin by now. Pretty quiet out there Chris, 'cept for the damned wind. Blowing something fierce. Blew that hat o'JD's right off. I was hopin' it'd keep right on blowin' it, but that boy got feet quick as lightnin' when he wants somethin'." He paused, settling back in the chair, his right leg shifting side-to-side in steady motion. He signaled for a beer from the bartender. "But at least it ain't rainin'. Damn, that was some storm last night. Must've dropped several inches straight down, there's still puddles big as lakes out there in some places. I figure there's enough wat-"

"Buck, I'm going. See ya' t'morrow," Chris interrupted, rising slowly from the table. He shifted his hat forward, glanced at Ezra and made for the door.

"Okay. Hey, watch out for th'mud, Chris," Buck called after him. "It's thick as molasses out there."

Chris turned back, a half-grin his acknowledgement, and left, bat-wing doors swinging quietly in his wake.

He arrived at his cabin, weary from the ride, weary from the wind, just plain weary. After taking care of his horse, he turned toward the cabin, a flash of deja-vu stopping him and he paused, looking down at the ground beneath his boots. He noticed a spot of red made visible from the bright moon's silvery light and bent to retrieve it, pulling as it stuck to the half-dried mud.

'Vin's shirt,' he mused, turning the small piece over in his hands. He glanced down again noticing the impression of a man's hand, perfectly formed in the soft soil. He was grinning when he entered his cabin.

He hadn't seen Vin all day, except for the brief encounter that morning. No, not an encounter, really, more like a passing shift in the air, they hadn't even spoken. He'd expected at some point to see him in saloon but Vin never showed, so he'd assumed the tracker had ridden out, taking off into the wilderness as he did on occasion.

The fire warmed him where he stood, then he turned and sat down on the bed, pulling off mud encrusted boots. He lay back, head resting on the small pillow, and studied the torn piece of red cotton. The fabric was ragged on one end and filthy, a single button dangled from a short thread, falling off when he touched it. He took a deep pull from the whiskey filled flask on the bedside table and closed his eyes, his thumb absentmindedly rubbing the small remnant and his thoughts drifted to the night before.

The night of the downpour.

They had been furious with one another. He and Vin. Enraged. He had shoved Vin, who came back with enough force to send them crashing together to the sodden ground. He'd wanted, at that precise moment, to exert such control over this man, the feeling to overpower and dominate so incredibly intense it almost blinded him. Then, through the driving rain, he'd kissed him, the action stemming out of anger, rage and finally, passion. And apparently, the Vin had felt the same overwhelming force within himself because he had wildly responded.

The two had rolled in the mud, over and over together, each trying command a superior position. Then they gained their footing, standing face-to-face, panting but not speaking as torrents of water crashed down upon them unnoticed.

Vin's ever present hide coat was thrown somewhere to the side, forgotten, as Chris attacked the tracker's shirt. With two hands, he gripped the front and yanked it open, buttons flying and fabric tearing as it was torn from the firm chest. Without warning, hands grabbed at his own pants, ripping them down with savage force and he hurriedly rid himself of them.

"My turn," he growled, reaching out to yank hard at the other's waist, knocking the slender man off his feet. Chris grinned, first pulling boots, then the sodden trousers off long legs, and these, too, were tossed away.

For a moment, Vin lay still, catching his breath with rain streaming into his eyes as he looked up. Blue eyes glared into green.

And then he moved, rattlesnake-quick, striking with little effort at Chris's knees, bringing him down with a satisfying grunt. He crooked his arm around the blond man's neck, drawing him in and plunged his tongue deeply into the warm mouth. Chris laced his fingers tightly into the long, soaked hair and pulled back hard causing Vin to cry out, his neck arching. He pried himself away from Vin's mouth, then locked down on the his throat, biting and sucking at the tender flesh while running his fingers through the tangled mane.

Vin was moaning, barely able to hear his own voice above the roar of the storm raging around them. He wrapped his legs tightly around Chris's and heaved, rolling them over once again. Water poured down Vin's face and he swiped at it to clear his vision, catching a glimpse of the lust-filled green eyes of the man beneath him. Once more he thrust his tongue into the Chris's mouth as his hands frantically groped the mud-slickened body. His mind never registered the cold, instead he felt the fire raging within his groin and he couldn't surpress the growl that escaped as a hand grabbed him there.

Chris's body was throbbing.

Hearing Vin's low growl made his own member pulse with desire. He roughly pushed up on the slighter man, pressing him back, then quickly sat up grabbing Vin's shoulders, twisting the tracker around until he was kneeling, both legs sinking into the thick mud. Leaning forward, his weight resting on the other's back, he trailed both hands up the inside of Vin's thighs. Vin shuddered beneath him, and he slowly moved his hands higher, through the water that threaded down each leg like so many tiny rivers.

"Vin?"

"Chris, yeah. Fuckin' now."

Vin was almost delirious in his need to feel this man inside him. He felt Chris's fingers ease into him, working the tightened muscle and he tensed slightly. The fingers withdrew then reappeared, easing in and out, moist and slick with rain and Chris's early juices. They left him, followed by tremendous pressure, filling him and he gasped softly at the intrusion. Chris didn't move, instead he wrapped his hand around Vin's waist, pulling him backwards, closer, whispering for him to relax as he waited for the muscles to ease further. Vin looked down, his arms stretched out before him, hands buried in the dark mud and he fisted them around handfuls of the ooze. God, he ached for him.

The wet hand gripping his own pulsing organ began pumping in earnest, and he pressed backwards, rocking on his knees in time with Chris's forward thrusts. His head dropped down, hanging heavy from his neck as his arms took most of their combined weight. Back and forth they rocked in the rain, his thighs on fire as he slammed forcibly into the body behind him pressing as hard as he could into the other man.

Chris clenched his jaw, the strong muscle tightening as he thrust himself forward again and again. Pounding hard into the body under him. Into Vin.

Vin.

Shit, was this happening? Harder and harder and harder.

His neck arched and he opened his mouth letting the rainwater run in then spill out again, trailing down his chin.

Quickly, he curled forward, water spraying from his hair in every direction and he raked fingers down a slender hip. His other hand continued its heated pace, the friction of contact driving the tracker wild and Chris knew it was only minutes before they both achieved release.

He bit down on the rounded back, his teeth skimming across the smooth, wet flesh to nip it repeatedly. Vin let out a loud growl and reared back, his seed shooting into Chris's already wet hand, dripping down to mix with rain and mud. Chris released Vin to grab tightly onto the man's hips with both hands, fingers clutching skin, back arching as his own climax began. He moaned, thrusting deeper still as he felt his own release happening, and he wrapped one arm around Vin's chest, pulling him up and back, tightening his hold as waves of pleasure engulfed him. He stiffened some and held fast, then loosened his grip on Vin, letting the younger man ease himself forward and they both slid exhausted to the saturated ground.

They lay there together, surrounded by mud, while the deluge continued around them.

Wave after wave of silver sheets pummelled the two men, who finally broke apart, still gasping for breath. Chris brought a hand to his face, clearing the waterfall cascading down his brow. He stood, muscles cold from the icy downpour and craned his neck back, face rising into the rain. Opening his mouth, he let the water fill it, swallowing most of the cold liquid, then took another mouthful, this time spitting it out onto the ground. He glanced down at Vin still sitting, one leg outstretched and leaning back on a hand completely buried in the mud. The younger man's head was down, rivers of rain falling from his hair obscuring most of his face. He reached out a hand, "Hey," he said.

No response. "VIN," he yelled, trying to be heard above the intensifying storm . The other man looked up, seemed to hesitate, then grasped the hand offered and pulled to his feet. Chris moved foward, placing a hand on Vin's shoulders. He could feel the slender body shivering, and he wrapped his arm around further.

"Let's get in, plenty warmer there." He nudged Vin forward, toward the cabin whose windows glowed softly hinting of the warm fire inside.

Vin didn't budge.

Chris stopped, hand slipping from the younger man. He paused, now aware of the stinging of his skin as the downpour continued its attack on the bare flesh. Again, he placed his hand on the other's back, pushing him toward the cabin. This time, Vin moved and they entered the warm room together.

Grabbing two towels, Chris threw one to Vin, then began cleansing himself of the remainder of mud the rain hadn't already removed. It wiped off easily and he was done quickly. He wrapped another around his waist and glanced over at Vin. The tracker hadn't moved, just stood perfectly still while dirt and rain ran in rivulets down his body, the unused towel at his feet. Chris hesitated for a second, then retrieved the clean towel and began rubbing it over the damp flesh, cleansing and drying the younger man. Vin let him, not moving a muscle, not saying a word. Then, as Chris finished and turned to throw the towel into the corner, he felt a hand grip his wrist. He turned to find Vin's smoldering blue eyes boring into his and he was, for that instant, completely mesmerized.

"God Chris," Vin started, releasing his hold on the arm. "That was...that was..."

"Yeah, I know. Quite the storm, huh?" He said, with a slight grin.

Chris sat in the chair staring into the bright flames, a blanket covering his still nude form. Vin sat by the small hearth, wrapped loosely in an old quilt, face turned toward the heat. There was no sound other than the crackling of the fire.

Chris awakened later, a weight pressing into him and he glanced down to find Vin asleep at his feet, the tracker's head leaning against knees. He smiled slightly and closed his eyes, hand moving to rest on the damp curls.

When next he woke, Vin was gone.

The rider sat atop his horse, watching, then moved in silently, approaching the cabin.

Chris awoke, taking a moment to realize he'd fallen asleep. He sat up and drank again from the flask by his bed, then swung his legs over the side, the torn red fabric fluttering to the floor, unnoticed. Even above the gusting winds, Chris heard the horse in front of his cabin and he peered out, the light from the moon illuminating horse and rider. He opened the cabin's door, leaning lightly against the doorjamb.

"Vin."

"Chris."

There was heavy silence, as the wind momentarily stilled, then resumed its frenzied pace.

"You comin' down or y' just waitin' for the wind t' blow you off?"

The man on the horse looked away for a moment, as if considering, then dismounted and stood motionless, holding his horses reins.

"Hell, Larabee, figured...maybe you'd do that," He grinned, thumb hooking his gunbelt as his body curved, relaxing slowly into a comfortable lean.

"You're awful sure of yourself there, Tanner. Go, get on inside, I'll take Peso," Chris said, reaching for the reins, eyes absorbing every inch of the sensual form.

Vin entered the cabin, then stood inside the small room, letting its warmth wrap itself around his lean frame. He shrugged off his still slightly damp coat, thowing it over the back of a chair and moved to stand closer to the fire.

Chris stopped as he came through the door, intent on the man before him. Vin turned in his direction, liquid gold from the firelight outlining one edge of his face, his eyes deep and dark and round. Chris moved closer to stand facing him and reached out his hand, cupping the back of the tracker's neck, pulling him roughly toward him. He saw Vin's eyes widen more, if that was even possible, and he enjoyed that reaction, then slowly leaned in to play his lips lightly over those of the other man. He pulled back slightly, eyes scanning the handsome face, then wrapped his hands around tousled waves of hair and pressed more intently, parting the soft lips with his tongue.

Chris kissed him: deeply, slowly and as tenderly as he could remember having done to anyone in such a long, long time. And Vin responded to this gentleness, his slender frame relaxing under the soft caresses of hands so different from those of the night before. Vin felt himself almost glowing, inner heat radiating from his chest, spiraling outward, igniting until every inch of him was aflame. His toes curled inside his boots as passion swept at him and he all but melted into the gentle hands. Chris ended the kiss, and leaned back, still just inches away from the tracker's face. Vin opened his eyes and in them Chris found a deep blue calm, and they steadied him and he smiled. And Vin smiled back.

Outside, it started to rain.
