She held his shaking form in her arms. Death came to him slowly.
Helplessly she watched her beloved grow weaker in her arms.
"Ezra?" she said sobbing. Her hands soaked in the wetness of his
bloodied shirt.
"Mary my love," he said gasping. "Don't cry. We'll always be together,
if not now, then in another lifetime."
As he faded away, only Mary's sobs could be heard.
Ezra stood and watched as Chris and Billy headed off for a day of
fishing.
"In another lifetime, perhaps," Ezra said sadly as he watched Mary
smile and wave happily at Chris and Billy.
