Buck Wilmington pushed his way quickly through the double doors of the saloon and stepped inside. Scanning the room, he saw who he had been searching for. Taking long strides over to one of the tables, he spoke to the man in black.
"Chris, we got trouble." Buck's face was deathly serious and he watched as Chris quickly put down the whiskey glass he'd been holding and stand up. Walking out of the saloon, the two met up with the other five men. Nathan spoke up first.
"What's goin on, Buck?" The healer put his hat on against the hot desert sun and leaned against the railing of the porch. Buck looked at the others in astonishment.
"You haven't seen?" The others looked at Buck with blank expressions. Chris stared at Buck from under the brim of his hat, his eyes questioning.
"Follow me." Buck turned and walked onto the street, followed slowly by the others. Ezra and Vin just looked at each other for a moment before following suit. The seven men strode in a line down the main street of Four Corners. As the seven men approached the hotel, they saw what their eyes had missed earlier. Outside, a pile of luggage waited and four horses breathed heavy from a long ride. As they came nearer, out of the doors came four young, beautiful women.
Buck stopped in the street and looked back at the others. With a tilt of his head, he indicated the women. "That is the problem! What am I gonna do?" Buck looked at the others.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Buck yelled as a groan came from Nathan as he shook his head and walked away. Ezra burst out laughing and walked back to the saloon with Josiah and Vin. JD stood staring till Chris, shaking his head, brushed past him and pulled the younger man with him. Buck stood alone in the middle of the street. Turning back to face the four women who were now looking at him. Clearing his throat, Buck walked up them.
"Ladies," he began with a tip of his hat, "my name's Buck and it would be my pleasure if you'd allow me to help you with your luggage."
