Trick or Treat?

Ezra swept into the office and tossed his briefcase on the desk before glaring across at his lover. Buck peeked up at him before turning his eyes back to his screen, a slight blush coloring his face. The southerner sighed loudly and shook his head before sitting down and logging on to his computer. The office was decorated with a few stick-on decals of pumpkins and scarecrows. Nathan had scowled at the battery-operated bowl Vin brought in that was filled to overflowing with candy. Any time a person reached for a piece of candy, the skeletal hand fell across the contents while a scary voice yelled at them to go away.

Across the office, JD was already dressed for the costume party that the Travis’s were hosting that night. The tall hat on his head stood out above his monitor. The floor around his wastebasket was generously littered with candy wrappers, a testament to the fact that the candy dish didn’t startle him anymore.

Glancing up from behind his monitor, Buck tried to catch his lover’s eye. He’d meant it as a joke but Ezra was not amused. He just hoped that it wouldn’t interfere with the rest of the plans they had for the weekend.

At the end of the day, Chris walked out of his office and glanced around the bullpen. It had been almost eerily silent all day and he was on the lookout for some kind of practical joke from JD or Vin. He had to smile at the costumes the two younger men had worn to work. JD was dressed as a soldier from the ‘Nut Cracker’ and Vin was dressed as the scarecrow from ‘Wizard of Oz.’ Nathan had brought his costume but refused to wear it all day. He was going dressed as ‘the two headed man.’ Josiah was going as ‘Grizzly Adams,’ complete with the fur cap and hatchet tucked into his belt. Chris wasn’t really into all of this holiday nonsense but would go because it was a personal invitation from Orin Travis himself. His costume was hardly creative; he was going as a gunslinger. Ezra’s costume, like the team leaders, was not terribly creative; he was going as ‘James Bond.’ Only Buck had yet to reveal his choice of costume.

Ezra carried his coffee cup into the kitchen to rinse. Chris was just getting a bottle of water from the refrigerator and smiled at the southerner. Since he and Buck had found each other, they had all discovered a playful, fun loving side to their undercover agent.

“So, are you going to tell me about Buck’s costume or do we have to wait until the party?” Chris asked as he twisted the cap off of the bottle.

“Believe me when I say that you don’t want to know what I know about his costume,” Ezra said, a slight blush coloring his features.

The night before, Buck had arrived at the condo an hour later than normal. He wore a Cheshire cat grin all through dinner and evaded every attempt Ezra had made about where he had been. When they climbed into bed together, Buck had insisted on having the lights out in the bedroom. He’d driven Ezra to the brink of insanity with his hands and with his lips before finally giving the southerner what he needed. Afterwards, Buck had snuggled up to him and fallen soundly asleep. In the morning, Ezra awakened with an aching need to be buried in the other man and began to try to rouse him.

How he managed to miss it was something he had yet to figure out but he had indeed missed it until they were in the shower together. Buck had kept his back to the wall while he washed Ezra. It wasn’t until Ezra began washing his lover that he saw it.

“What in the …?” Ezra spluttered as he stared at Buck’s backside.

“You like it?” Buck asked, peering over his shoulder.

“How? When? What were you thinking? What if someone else sees it?”

“It’s done in henna, it’ll wash off in a couple of weeks!”

“And suppose you manage to get injured before it wears off?”

“I won’t,” Buck promised. “You going to make love to me or not?”

A hard shudder raced through the southerner and Chris stepped closer.

“Ezra, you alright?” the team leader asked.

Jarred out of his memory of the morning, Ezra actually smiled. “I’m fine, really.” He just couldn’t shake the final memory of the morning, of making love to Buck, he shuddered again.

The party was a smash hit. They all enjoyed the various games Mary had organized and made generous use of the open bar. They danced to the music spun by the disc jockey. It was quite late by the time they left for home.

Okay, are you at all curious as to what Buck had don in henna on his body?
