Notes: Song fic. This song is sung by that darlin' man from down under Keith Urban. I figured since I wrote a song fic for Ezra I'd better do one for Vin as well. Didn't want him getting jealous. <g>
Vin Tanner was not a happy man. In fact, he was far from it. He growled deep in his throat as he was stopped by yet another red light. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel as the light bleed what was left of his patience. Vin stepped on the gas as the light finally turned green only to quickly brake as someone pulled out in front of him. Grounding his teeth he swore under his breath and thought, if I don't get out of this town soon, he was going to burst and someone was going to get hurt.
Him and Ezra were going out of town this weekend. That is if he could ever it out of this damn traffic. And away from this damned city. Vin was more than ready to kick off his shoes and relax with just his lover and nature to keep him company. He was surprise that Ezra had agreed to come with him. Vin knew that his sexy Southerner would never admit it, but he knew that Ezra enjoyed the outdoors almost as much as he did. Especially, when it was just the two of them. And for that Vin was grateful. Because as much he needed this time alone with Ezra, he also needed this weekend to replenish his soul.
Gonna kick off my shoes
And run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the ravel all meet
Going back the well gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul where the blacktop endsPulling up in front of the townhouse he grinned as Ezra immediately walked out carrying his bag. As soon as he sat down Vin leaned over and gave him a deep slow kiss. God, how he needed that, he thought as he pulled back with a sigh. Without a word being spoken they quickly got on their way.
I'm lookin, down the barrel of Friday night
Ridin' on a river of freeway lights
Goodbye city I'm country bound
'Til Monday rolls aroundVin enjoyed the comfortable silence and the warm hand resting high on his thigh. He appreciated that fact that Ezra didn't feel the need to fill every minute talking. He knew they were both in need of this weekend and was grateful that his friend, Chanu had loaned them his cabin.
Workin' in the grind is an uphill road
Punchin' that clock and carryin' that load
I bust it all week and then I'm free
The weekend belongs to meGlancing over at Ezra, Vin suddenly wished he had borrowed Chris's truck. That way Ezra could be sitting pressed up against his side with his arm around Ezra's shoulders. One of them needed to get a vehicle without bucket seats.
Give me some fresh air give me that farm
Give me some time with you in my arms
Far away from the hustle and pressure and the noise
Gonna kick off my shoes
And run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Going back to the well gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul, you betcha
Where the blacktop ends
Where the blacktop endsVin sighed as they finally reached their turn off. He welcomed the sound of gravel crunching under his tires. The gentle swaying of the trees. Vin felt the tension of the city leave his body as the smell of pine and cedar teased his senses.
As the jeep bounded down the road they could see a cabin surrounded by trees come into view. He sucked in a breath as the jeep hit a hole causing the hand resting on his thigh to brush his against rapidly awaking flesh. Lifting that hand he gave it a gentle kiss then placed it back on his thigh.
Pulling to a stop they sat for a minute and enjoyed the sounds of nature. Birds were singing. Tree frogs could be heard. Listening carefully they could even hear the gentle sound of a near by stream.
Vin unbuckled his seatbelt then pushed to button to release Ezra's. Stepping out of the jeep Vin pulled Ezra into his arms and simply held him. With a sigh he buried his face in Ezra's neck and thought that this was just what he needed. Pulling back they shared a deep kiss then began unloading the jeep both eager to start the weekend.
The End
